The Gin At Nesbit | Memphis Wedding Venue

@ashleybenhamphoto

There tends to be a trend with our favorite Memphis wedding venues - they all have a cool backstory. The Gin is no different. We got to see this wedding venue in the midst of the rubble that Christy, the owner, received it in. It is nothing but astonishing what they were able to accomplish in such a short time with transforming this venue.

Every corner of the venue has a story - the bars, the barn doors, the tin, and the lighting - most of it was salvaged or found and repurposed. This little gem in the heart of Nesbit, Mississippi outside of Memphis is a perfect example of what a little sweat equity can do for a forgotten building.

History of The Gin at Nesbit

Tucked away in the inviting little town of Nesbit, Mississippi, is a spacious venue that was once a functioning cotton gin. This historic site was built in the late 1800’s and served as Nesbit’s cotton gin until the 1970’s. Before becoming an event space for all things weddings, dances, dinner parties, etc., the building was turned into a supper club where it was rumored that Elvis Presley sought interest and visited once before.

After 15 years of sitting vacant, Stafford and Christy Houston bought the gin with the vision to take this old, industrial building and give it a purpose by converting the building to a tasteful event space.
