The Memphis Botanic Garden has been around for decades, and it’s a must-see destination in Memphis for tourists and locals alike. (You may even recognize it from a former blog post about Memphis destinations for wedding guests!)

Not only is Memphis Botanic Garden a gorgeous spot for scenic walks and fun concerts, it also offers many places for popping the question, taking engagement photos and hosting your wedding. Truly Memphis Botanic Garden has so many options that it can guide you from saying yes all the way to saying I do.

This Memphis wedding venue definitely holds a place in our hearts for all the events that we’ve gotten to be a part of on these stunning grounds. Located right in Audobon Park in East Memphis, the Botanic Garden has a long and illustrious history as one of many Memphis mainstays.

Memphis Botanic Garden History

Did you know this place has history dating back centuries? That’s right! In the 1800s, John Overton, James Winchester, and Andrew Jackson founded Memphis, and the land that would eventually become Audobon Park went through many families and name changes throughout the past two hundred years. The official founding of these grounds was in 1953, and the Garden has had many additions and renovations since. The Gardens of Audobon Park officially became the Memphis Botanic Garden in 1966, and the name has remained!

Eventually, ceremony and venue spaces were added to allow for weddings, and this has been a hotspot for couples’ nuptials ever since.

Memphis Botanic Garden Weddings

With 96 acres of botanical gardens, three ceremony spaces, and three reception venues, the Botanic Garden has something for everyone and every wedding size!

There are options for garden ceremonies that can accommodate 2-600 guests or smaller intimate ceremonies with just your nearest and dearest.

The outdoor spaces for the ceremony include the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Blecken Pavilion. As for the reception, you can have up to 400 guests in the Hardin Hall (without a dance floor), or if you’re looking for a smaller, more intimate reception, there’s the Goldsmith Room and Sara’s Place which seat up to 200 to 125 guests, respectively.

Each space comes with just about everything you may need, including access to the gardens, a bridal suite, tables, chairs, linens, and even custom room layout! You can also add extra decor and lighting for a fee.

Between the amazing views of the gardens and the more than spacious event spaces, the Memphis Botanic Garden is definitely perfect for any season wedding in Memphis!
